Poor posture leading to Shoulder impingement

It’s a condition in which rotator cuff muscles and bursa around shoulder joint are repetitively gets entrapped and compressed during elevation of shoulder. It results in painful shoulder movements’ initially and later functional weakness. It is caused by shortening of space between the acromion and the rotator cuff, most common in person involving in repeated overhead arm movement like swimming, tennis, lifting heavy weight, ball throwing etc.

People with rounded shoulders are more prone for shoulder impingement. Poor posture caused by our daily habits can also shorten acromion space.  Posture while reading, working, texting, driving, cooking, or exercising has an impact on pathomechanics and can lead to shoulder impingement.
